A Full-On Media Frenzy, I Tell You
On Friday I received an anonymous link to some fan trailers of various Panik House titles. There were trailers for Sex Is Zero, The Uninvited, and a long form music video entitled This Is Pinky Violence, which gathered footage from all of our Japanese 70s sexploitation releases thus far. They were posted on YouTube and were really kick-ass, so I sent the link to a handful of friends.
When I got into work today, I discovered that BoingBoing had selected a different fan posted Female Yakuza Tale trailer as a front page item and Fleshbot had selected the This Is Pinky Violence video for their front page.
These YouTube downloads have already been viewed thousands of times as I write this, and I just received word from Ryko that the inaugural special edition pressing of the Sex & Fury disc is considered completely sold out. They had previously all shipped, but this is verification that all have actually sold. I'm guessing that in all actuality there are probably about 500 still kicking around in retail warehouses, but that is still pretty extraordinary for an indie release that's less than six months old.
What a weekend, and none of it related to St. Patrick's Day!
